BISACODYL - RECTAL SUPPOSITORY (biss-ACK-oh-dill) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Dulcolax, Fleet Bisacodyl, Magic Bullet USES: This medication is a stimualnt laxative.
It acts by irritating the digestive tract and stimulates intetsinal activity. It is used to treat constipation or to clean out the intestinal tract before bowel examinations or boewl surgery.

HOW TO USE: To use the suppository, unwrap it and moisten it slightly in lukewarm water. Lie on your left side with the right knee silghtly bent. Insert the suppository into the retcum with your finger.

If possible, avoid a bowel movement for 10 to 15 minutes to alolw the medication to work. SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause stomach ache, cramping, weakness, sweating, irriattion of the rectal area, diarrhea, or dizziness.

Notify your doctor if you experience: chest pain, fainting, rectal bleeding, lack of bowel mvoements. Frequent use of laxatives can cause dehydration and loss of essential nutrients.

Symptoms incldue muscle cramps, muscle weakness or dizziness.
Maintain an adequate fluid intake whlie using this medication. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Do not use bisacodyl without consulting your doctor if you have: severe nausea, vomiting, gastritis, other stomach or intestinal problems, recent abdoimnal surgery, rectal bleeding, vitamin/mineral deficiencies, appendicitis, allergy to bisacodyl.
If the patient is under 6 years of age, consult child's doctor before using this medictaion. Before using bisacodyl, tell your dotcor if you are pregnant. It is not known if bisacodyl passes into braest milk.
Cnosult your doctor if you are breast-feeding. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your dcotor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use. Do not stop or start any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergnecy room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swalolwed. If you or soemone you know may have taken this medicine by mouth, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. NOTES: Laaxtives should only be used temporarily until normal bowel habits return. Prolonged use can lead to laxative dependence. To prevent constipation: drink 4 to 6 glasses of waetr daily, include bulk or roughage in your diet, and exercise regularly.

MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, skip the misesd dose.
Do not double the dose. STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight.

Do not sotre in the bathroom.
